Fun and Insightful on November 11, 2009 by Jo from Philadelphia, PA

  • Pros: Full of fun and information
  • Cons: I tend to hide it from the kids - a bit too mature for them

I love Rolling Stone magazine. It is full of all the fun information that I want to know about the music world, and then also includes in-depth articles in each issue about issues that affect us in daily life. Many times, I find information and investigative journalism that I do not find in industry publications that are related to the same issues. I'm hooked!

A Fun Read on November 10, 2009 by joproro from Philadelphia

  • Pros: Awesome
  • Cons: Bad choice in people chosen for the cover

Rolling Stone does a good job of fostering political awareness while incorporating many different types of music stories. The articles are well written.

Rolling Stones Gather No Moss! on April 01, 2008 by DawnnaBee from Salem, OR

  • Pros: Best Dang Rock & Roll Mag Available! Highly Collectable too!
  • Cons: ...sometimes a lil' too 'ad heavy' but not toooo much~

I've been reading "Rolling Stone" since I was a teenager living close to Frisco, CA. *Think I was 14 when I first started reading it! RS always had the most interesting stories on the Musicians that are popular at the moment; and/or past musicians that you'd like to hear what they've been UP to lately! I can never get enough of my Rolling Stones! BTW the mag is Highly Collectable! As soon as you buy one, it already has increased in appreciation! True. Another thing about RS, it's not limited to musicians, NO! There's also stories about famous Stars, interviews that ask the questions you want to hear, and gives you the unedited answers you want to hear! NO editing is alot more interesting than other mags that 'bleep' out those certain words most of us use too.Let's face it, the 'words' are all over the TV & online, there's NO getting around it! That's one thing that drew me to it long ago; they've NEVER pulled any punches, & I doubt ever will~!! Gimme my RS mag, with all it's many moments of Insight & reputable memories! Buy one & SEE for yourself!

on November 04, 2007 by coffeeforcake

  • Pros: in depth, broad, you don't have to be a musician to understand it
  • Cons: not very international, focusses mainly on people living in the USA

This is a really great magazine. Every issue includes one or 2 long interviews of high quality. They look at different aspects of the artist(s) and create a comfortable and casual atmosphere giving you a detailed view of the interviewee(s). The issues also include quite a few political articles. They also add in interesting short facts or notices about what is going on around us. In the back you find reviews on CDs and artists and a list of that week's top hits. The magazine focusses on various styles of music so you'll guaranteed find at least a couple of articles that will interest you. Another great thing about Rolling Stone is that you don't have to be a musician to understand it. It doesn't have a lot of hard musical terms in it that you wouldn't understand. But even if you are a musician, like me, it doesn't really matter. Don't buy this magazine if you want to learn how to play an instrument, ITS NOT A TEACHING OR INSTRUCTURAL MAGAZINE. Just a really good recreational, interesting magazine about the entertainment industry with a focus on music and movies and some politics. The layout of the magazine is also great. A lot the news is in newspaper format and the pictures are of high quality. Rolling Stone doesn't include a tours list (go to your band's website for that) but it does list some major concerts. I'd say that this magazine is mostly for teenagers and adults because some of the articles are about shocking events and the language isn't always very appropriate for children. But still, this is my favorite magazine. Subscibe, its worth your money and a good deal. :) Wow. That was a long review. Hopefully it was helpful!
